Finding Our Humanity

November 8 @ 10:00 am - 10:50 am

BOOKINGS REQUIRED - FREE FOR SCHOOL GROUPS
Leif Cocks holding an orangutan

A small population biologist, conservationist and world-renowned orangutan expert, Leif Cocks, has an almost 30-year career working with orangutans. Leif is also the author of the books Orangutans and their Battle for Survival (2002) and the Amazon best-seller, Orangutans My Cousins, My Friends – A journey to understand and save the person of the forest (2016). In Finding Our Humanity Leif shares an uncommon journey into what the great apes, our tribal past, conservation and a more philosophical approach to life can teach us about our humanity.

Eschewing anger, stridency and the paralysing sadness felt by many in the face of the consequences of our destructive behaviours, Finding our Humanity instead charts a clear-minded and hopeful course back toward a deeper recognition of what really makes us human, and how we might act to protect those creatures who are unable to speak for themselves.
